What is this site about?

Its purpose is to share my thoughts and views and occasional goodies with friends, family, and strangers. Most of the content will be most meaningful to those who know me personally. But feel free to explore, even if you haven’t got a clue who I am. I love to hear from people, so feel free to drop me a line.

Who is this Michael Prewitt guy?

Where’s your photo?

I may post a photo on here eventually to help you figure out if I am the guy you know. You can always search my blog to see if it contains any recent photos of me.

Is this the Michael I know?

Believe it or not, there are actually a LOT of people in the world with the name Michael Prewitt. And Mike Prewitt. And Michael Pruitt. And so forth. I am not closely related to any of them, as far as I know. If the words “OA,” “Hartland,” “Three Angels” ring a bell (or “Eugene,” “Glenn,” “Vivian”), then you probably have the right person.

If you were expecting this to be the site of someone famous, you may be disappointed. I’m just an ordinary guy. For anything worthwhile I have accomplished, I direct all praise to God.

What are your interests?

My personal interests can be roughly divided between religion, personal development, science and technology, art, and nature.

  • If you are interested in my religious side, you may want to check out the Generation of Youth for Christ which is a yearly gathering of like-minded young people who are sincere about their faith, or Three Angels Broadcasting Network (3ABN) which is the ministry where I work.
  • If personal development is your thing, hang tight. I hope to pull together some resources eventually. My main personal development interests include health and physical fitness, mental fitness, and independent living.
  • Are you a science gal or guy? If so, that’s great. I am interested in practically all branches of science, including the pure sciences (physics, biology, mathematics, etc.), and more focused sciences like sociology and economics. I am also fascinated with technology, and computers especially.
  • The arts are something I love, although I am quite opinionated—and somewhat unconventional—about what I like and don’t like. I make no effort to follow art trends or to learn what the “experts” call “great art.” However, I would say my taste is well educated, and my standards high. I have an interest in many branches of art, including music, painting, illustration, writing, sculpture, and architecture (although not so much the performing arts like ballet or theater, music being the exception). I appreciate classical forms of art the most, although there are some modern styles that appeal to me. Having said all that, I am not particularly artistic, although I think I have a well-developed creative side. The areas where I express myself the most are in graphic design and writing.
  • Nature is something that brings me great pleasure. Whether it’s outdoor activities like hiking or canoeing, or watching wildlife, or just seeing photos or paintings of nature, I am often filled with wonder and admiration. From galaxies to atoms, from whales to the tiniest microbes, I enjoy seeing and learning about the natural world. Check out my personal blog for my latest adventures and discoveries.
