The above kaleidoscope-style image was made from a photo I took of my mom’s Christmas tree. Pretty cool, huh? The kaleidoscope effect was created using Pixelmator, a Mac app somewhat like Photoshop.

By reapplying additional symmetrical tiling effects, I achieved this:

And then this:

I thought this one made kind of a neat background. If you’d like to download it to tile across your computer desktop, download this tile image (I increased the saturation on the colors, according to my own taste):

From the image above, I applied an additional mirror-and-tile effect, which resulted in this, which is I think is the coolest pattern of them all (it has sort of an Islamic art feel, to me):
